My First Pocket PC Cell Phone- The Samsung SPH i700

Back in 2004 I was looking for a cell phone that could replace some of the functions of my home PC. I was on a Verizon Wireless contract and came across the Samsung SPH i700. It was rather pricey, but I thought I NEEDED the features. After my upgrade discounts, I was able to purchase it at the low price of $499.

While I got this phone for my business, I ended up change course and no longer requiring the data plans. This phone ended up being a large ( it was hard to fit in a pocket)camera phone and PDA for taking notes.

That said, I used this phone for 3 years- long after the contract expired. I liked some of the features. For example I didn't mind that it required a stylus. I didn't need a mini keyboard. However, after awhile I just wanted a smaller phone and found one with a flip-out screen and keyboard. It was free with my "new every 2" plan.

Smart phones like the Pocket PC offer some useful features for those who need them, and as technology advances they become smaller and more affordable.
